Pre-wedding shoot in India
Pre-wedding shoot in Udaipur
The city of lakes, founded on the shore of Lake Pichola in the 16th century. Ghats where pigeons rise at dawn, palaces reflected in still water, and lanes that always lead back to the lake.
Best time: September to March; mornings on the ghats, golden hour on the lake.
Where photographers take couples

Sahastra Bahu temple
Temples near Udaipur carved in the 10th century. People call them Saas-Bahu: the story goes that a king built one for his queen and the other for his son's bride.

Gangaur Ghat
The ghat on Lake Pichola named after Gangaur, the festival when women pray to Gauri for a happy marriage. Pigeons gather here every morning.

Lake Pichola
A 14th-century lake that Maharana Udai Singh II enlarged when he founded Udaipur on its shore. The City Palace still looks down on it.

Old city lanes
Narrow lanes that wind down to the lake, full of miniature-painting shops, chai stalls and scooters.

The Aravalli hills
The Aravallis, among the oldest mountains on earth, roll out green and gold around Udaipur.
