What goes on a Nikah card
Most cards open with Bismillah, in Arabic, in its translation, or as 786. Many add a verse, most often from Surah Ar-Rum (30:21), and the Islamic date beside the English one.
The card is usually in the parents’ names, with the Nikah’s time set by the prayers: after Asr, after Maghrib or after Isha.
Mehndi, Nikah and Walima
The mehndi or manjha comes first, then the Nikah with the ijab-o-qubool, then the rukhsati. The Walima, the feast the groom’s family hosts after the Nikah, closes the celebrations.
Each gets its own card, and each family’s link shows only what they’re invited to.
Two invites from Lucknow
Ivory is inspired by Lucknow’s chikankari, white on white, sealed with wax. Mehfil is an old Lucknow evening of music and poetry, lit candle by candle. Both feel just right for a Nikah and a Walima night.

What is written on a Muslim wedding card?
Bismillah or 786 at the top, often a verse, then the parents’ names, the couple, the Nikah’s date and time with the prayer it follows, the venue, and the Walima if it’s on the same card.
What does 786 mean on a wedding card?
It stands for Bismillah. The letters of “Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem” add up to 786 in the old abjad count, and many South Asian families print the number at the top.
What is the difference between the Nikah and the Walima?
The Nikah is the marriage itself, with the ijab-o-qubool before witnesses. The Walima is the feast after it, hosted by the groom’s family.
Who hosts the Walima?
The groom’s family, usually a day or two after the Nikah.
Can some families come only to the Walima?
Yes. Each family’s link shows only the functions they’re invited to.
